A Book Review: Clockwork Angel

Note: there are no spoilers in this review.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos. Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own....

Clockwork Angel is the first book of the Infernal Devices series. This may be one of my favorite books read in the passed year, or so. The description of a fantasized world was good, but not great. However, I felt that it was easy to picture all of the creatures and settings. If you enjoy thrillers, then this book is for you! It was so intense that my heart would start pumping and I could not put the book down. There's also some frustrating romance going on. Its super frustrating because - well you'll see.
The ending was not my favorite because it had ended so very suddenly. That just means I'll have to get my hands on the second book, Clockwork Prince. AH! So excited!!
My overall rating: 4.7/5
Clare has a real piece of art here.

Be well.
